Kinda a random thought, but despite Earthbending being the hardest element for Aang to learn (with Waterbending coming easy, and him being the greatest firebender prodigy Jeong Jeong had ever seen) Aang used Earthbending almost as much as his Airbending. By the end of the series Aang’s go-to element after airbending was in fact Earthbending. It ultimately enabled him to defeat Ozai with Seismic sense and holding Ozai down. He used it in his battle with Ozai more than the other elements. It’s crazy how versatile Aang became with it.

Ming-hau was never low key 🤣 she litterally does a 720° flip through the air lands and then uses her water to form claws and throw people to the same effect shed definetly one of if not the most powerful water bender.

I feel like Monk Gyatso definitely earned the title for the most powerful/dangerous airbender. I recall someone pointing out that when Aang found Gyatso’s remains, there were dozens, perhaps hundreds of fire nation soldiers surrounding him, yet no burns on his clothes or signs of having been burned or impaled by a weapon. The conclusion drawn from this was that Gyatso used a technique similar to Zaheer on a larger scale, removing all the air from the room, suffocating everyone inside, including himself.

I don't think combustionman was low-key powerful...He's one of the rarest firebenders and threatened the entire Avatar gang singlehandedly.

I don't think, Korras Earth Bending-Enemy counts because Korra wasn't very up mentally. She easily could have beaten her if it wasn't for her mental illness

Amon is the most powerful non Avatar character through both series, he was the only one who did exactly what he said he would

If I Had to choose the top 5 underrated from each, they would be: ATLA- Hamma, Oma, Hugh, Jit Sang, and Long Feng TLOK- Meelo, Ghazan, Tonraq, Lightning Bolt Zolt, and Shady Shin

The fact that the actually listen to their community and added SPARKY SPARKY BOOM MAN instead of combustion man makes me so happy

So I don't really think that many of the benders on this list did much that was really impressive, however I started thinking when it came to the story about Oma. Wouldn't it make sense if she could have actually been the first Born Earth Bender Avatar incarnation. We were told in LOK that the first benders got their bending from lion turtles, not from learning through the original benders, so that part must be partially a myth warped by time at least, and the level of bending shown in that flashback was pretty strong by the looks at it. Since bending was pretty primitive and weak during the time of Wan, outside of the avatar state fusion, its possible that Oma loved someone who died in a war and entered the avatar state in response. Naturally she as the avatar ended up not destroying them all but forcing a peaceful end to the war and as such created Omashu.

The swamp guy, Kai, jinora, meelo, and ikki are underrated in my opinion. I don’t think general fong is underrated, he wasn’t that impressive in that scene. Tonraq is a greater bender none the less.

everyone in the Red lotus could be on here, as could Jin Jin, Momo(as an earth bender or as an airbender, unless you count him and Gyatzo as the same person), and Tarloq

Burying someone is probably the most powerful earthbending move, and if you can't earthbend psychically or have no other earthbender to help you, you're done.
